Alumni Evening: 18 July 2017

We are excited to invite you to an evening of short and sharp presentations that look at new research topics presented by our promising higher degree research students.

A buffet dinner and refreshments will be served after the presentations, and there will be plenty of time to network, and catch up with old and new acquaintances.  

Welcome to New Students

The School of Optometry and Vision Science at UNSW Australia will welcome its new students on 23 February 2017. This lecture will provide an overview of the School and introduce its staff. Tours of the School will be conducted by the Stage 4 Peer Mentors, followed by a BBQ hosted by the Student Optometry Society.  Relevant details are as follows:

Alumni Evening: 16 November 2016

We are fortunate in November to have the pleasure of hosting two Alumni continuing education evenings. This second evening, on the 16th November has the theme of communication between clinicians for the benefit of our patients, with an emphasis on referral quality, appropriateness and timing. Our keynote speaker is Dr. Derek Dunstone, who will speak on the “Good, bad and the ugly – what can be learned from an audit of UK optometric referrals”.

Alumni Evening: 2 November 2016

On 2 November 2016 all alumni, staff, colleagues and general public are warmly invited to an exciting evening with two highly regarded keynote speakers: Dr Daniel Ehrlich, presently Head of Optometry and Moorfields Eye Hospital, UK, and Dr Michael Hennessy, reknowned for his work on glaucoma pathways. They will be presenting on optometry's role in chronic disease management in the health systems of the UK and Australia respectively, and providing a picture of likely future developments in this area.

UNSW Open Day

UNSW will have its Open Day on Saturday the 3rd of September at the Kensington Campus. If you would like more information about studying Optometry and Vision Science and our new programs please come to open day and the student advisory centre (in Scientia building) on campus where our staff will be happy to answer your questions. In addition a lecture on Optometry and Vision Science including our new programs will be given by Dr Sieu Khuu at 9.30am and 2.50pm on the day in the Keith Burrows lecture theatre (OMB J14)

SOVS Research Information Evening

The Research Information Evening is an opportunity for our students to chat with academics and learn more about research opportunities at the School of Optometry and Vision Science including summer scholarship/vacation research projects, Year 5 optometry projects, vision science honours projects and Postgraduate research projects.

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to present an evening of short and sharp presentations that look closely at new research in topics ranging from bugs to contact lenses.

In the first half of the evening we will be showcasing new research projects that are currently under investigation by four of our promising higher degree research students.
