Biography: 

Dr Cecilia Chao is an Adjunct Associate Lecturer at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, UNSW Australia and is currently conducting her post-doctoral work at the College of Optometry, State University of New York in Manhattan.

Dr Chao's research focuses on risk factors, including genetic profiles, ocular microbiomes and age, for the susceptibility to corneal infiltrative events in contact lens wearers. She has expertise is in the analysis of tear inflammatory mediators, conjunctival cell morphology and imaging antigen-presenting cells using in vivo confocal microscopy. Dr Chao currently supervises research projects of the honours optometry students at UNSW in order to enhance the student experience and maximise learning whilst conducting their research.
